The Tool Kit: Glossier's Black Tie Set
There's a difference between makeup that's festive and makeup that makes you look like you just emerged from a snow globe. Take a more polished approach this holiday season with help from Glossier's new, limited-run box set, the Black Tie kit, which features a pink nail polish, grey-black eyeliner, a high-shine gloss, and best of all, a new shade of the Haloscope highlighter (Moonstone).
We used the Black Tie kit to try out three easy new looks for the holidays. Forget the glitz and opt for an ethereal shimmer.
Look No. 1: The Glow and Go
Step 1: Use the eyeliner to draw a winged line on your top lid. Clean up any mess with a cotton swab.
Step 2: Blend highlighter on the following points: brow bone, temple, inner eye corner, Cupid's bow, and cheekbones. Step 3: Swipe the gloss on your lips.
Look No. 2: The Dose of Drama
Step 1: Starting at the outer corner of your eye, draw a wing shape and connect the lines on both the lower and upper lid. The more you extend the tip of the wing, the more dramatic the look!
Step 2: Build on the thickness and density of the liner. Clean up the shape with a cotton swab.
Step 3: Dab the highlighter over the rest of your lid.
Step 4: Apply the illuminator liberally—to your brow bones, temples, and the bridge of your nose.
Step 5: Wild card: Add the highlighter to your lips, then cover it with a layer of the gloss.
Look No. 3: The Quick Smoky Eye
Step 1: Fill in the top lid from lash line to crease with the eyeliner.
Step 2: Add a line to the bottom lid.
Step 3: Smudge out the color on the top lid to create a slight smoke effect.
Step 4: Add a layer of mascara.
Step 5: Dab the highlighter onto your lids, temples, and Cupid's bow.
Step 6: Finish off with the gloss! Find the Black Tie Set on sale for $50 at glossier.com
