Neutral-colored lipsticks are the easiest and most versatile items to have in your makeup kit. Not only do they pair well with most looks (think: a dark smoky-eye or colorful, graphic liner), they can also be easily adjusted to better suit activities both casual and formal.
The delicate color range comes in a variety of shades that match many different skin tones. Unlike stark light nudes and deep browns, a rosy nude isn't overpowering and provides a slight flush on the lips without looking too much like makeup.
For some inspiration, just look to the red carpets. Starting back in May with the Cannes Film Festival and the Met Gala, lots of our favorite entertainers and street-style stars have been showcasing expert applications of pink-tinted browns.
Try the understated lip color that will pull together your looks all season long!
For Light Tones
Match your skin's pink undertones with rosy nudes that have more pink than brown. The cooler the tone, the better it will look against pale and ivory skin. Keep things casual by adding clear mascara and a lightly colored blush—or, for nighttime, pair it with a sharp cat eye.
For Medium Tones
With your skin tone, you can vary one shade darker or lighter than your natural color. Play around with customization by layering a light rose over a darker rose lip pencil—it will add varying levels of color so the lip shade doesn't blend into your skin too much.
For Dark Tones
A deeper, warmer pink that has more of a brown tone will look best with your complexion. Since you're working with neutrals, may we suggest pairing this lip color with a bold pastel eyeliner or a layer of glossy eyeshadow (remember that?!) on your lids.
