If you get the chance to visit Brooklyn's Nitehawk Cinema, just be sure to keep two things in mind: You're going to be in for a classic cinematic experience (massive cushioned seats, old-timey previews, beautiful decor), and you're going to want to arrive at the theater very hungry.

How do you make Oscar-nominated films even better? By pairing them with cocktails, of course.

If you don't happen to have enough of an appetite to indulge in their various movie-themed dishes, make sure you at least order their signature Nitehawk Popcorn. With its savory truffle oil and bright, citrusy notes, the concoction makes the classic theater snack even more addictive than you ever thought it could be.

This is no ordinary popcorn.

We caught up with Chef Kurt Applegate to find out how to make it, and then took a trip to the theater's Lo-Res Bar for a few cocktails you'll want to serve up next time you host movie night.

The Nitehawk Popcorn

Ingredients

3½–4 ounces plain popped popcorn

1 pound melted butter

1 ounce truffle oil

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon citric acid

How to Make It

Step 1: Combine butter and truffle oil in a bowl, stirring as much as possible.

Step 2: Create a batch of seasoning by combining two parts of salt to one part of citric acid. If you don't have citric acid readily available, substitute fresh lemon zest.

Step 3: Drizzle ¼ cup of butter mixture over popcorn, and sprinkle citric salt to taste. Mix and serve.

The Claudia Maria Cocktail

Inspired by Oscar-favorite Manchester by the Sea, this refreshing gin drink will keep you in high spirits, even while watching one of the more depressing films of the year.

Ingredients

1 ½ ounces New England Distilling Gin

¼ ounce Combier Pamplemousse Rose

½ ounce honey thyme syrup

1 ounce fresh grapefruit juice

¼ ounce fresh lime juice

2 ounces soda water

How to Make It

Rim a pilsner glass with sea salt. Mix all the ingredients together in a shaker with ice. Top glass with ice and add soda water. Strain mixture over. Garnish with a lime.

The L.A. Sunset

The La La Land-inspired cocktail is so pretty, you just might find yourself trying to take it home with you.

Ingredients

1 ounce Banhez Mezcal

¼ ounce St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

½ ounce fresh lime juice

½ ounce prickly pear puree

How to Make It

Mix all the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Strain and pour into glass, over ice.
