Airbnb has probably already influenced the way you plan or experience a city, giving you the option of a brownstone in Brooklyn or a rustic finca in Ibiza.
And their newest feature "Trips" furthers their motto of "Don't just go there, live there" by offering easy and personal experiences curated by local hosts around the world.
The trips feature is split into two functions: "Experiences" and "Places." "Experiences" offers users the chance to try out the unique sights and flavors of destinations, from truffle hunting in Tuscany to samurai sword play in Tokyo to surf lessons in Los Angeles. There are 500 Experiences now available in 12 cities worldwide.
"Places" has worked with cultural experts and neighborhood insiders to recommend the hidden gems within their city. Airbnb will now be home to one million individual recommendations.
Think of it like a Spotify recommended playlist of where to go when you're on a random street corner in Berlin.
Places also has a "Meet Ups" function which gives local businesses the opportunity to host events to bring local Airbnb guests together, and an "Audio Walks" function which offers access to amazing walking tours that allow people to discover neighborhoods in an authentic way.
Lastly, Airbnb has announced "Trip Itinerary" which simplifies the end to end travel experience by bringing together everything the traveler needs to know into one simple timeline. Over time, this will evolve to suggest personalized and contextual recommendations during a trip.
