Ryan Gosling, who earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for La La Land, is singing again in his latest film, though it's not quite a Damien Chazelle musical. The actor stars in Song to Song, a Terrence Malick-written and -directed drama set in Austin's music scene. The star-studded cast includes Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender and Rooney Mara.

Not to downplay its rock music influence, the film also includes cameos from artists like Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Black Lips and indie singer Lykke Li. The latter, who is making her big-screen debut, stars as one of Gosling's lovers in the film. A new clip shows the pair singing an intimate cover of "It Hurts to Be Alone" by Bob Marley and the Wailers. Gosling plays along on a mini Casio keyboard (a step down from that baby grand he worked as a jazz pianist in La La Land).
