The Film: Paint It Black

The Stars: Alia Shawkat of Arrested Development fame stars as Josie, an eccentric artist and avid rave-goer, while the iconic Janet McTeer plays Meredith, a classical pianist and the (very angry) mother of Josie's boyfriend Michael.

30-Second Synopsis: From the start, we know that Michael is missing, and when Josie gets the call that he's committed suicide, things immediately start to spin out of control. Through vignettes set during the past and present, Josie and Meredith finally meet to form an unhealthy relationship driven by their insurmountable grief. Think: dangerous raves, stalking, physical altercations, twisted adoration, and one very complicated path to figuring out why Michael, the boy they both loved, died.

The Most OMG Moment: When Meredith lunges at Josie during Michael's funeral, she is fully committed to taking her down.

The Best Beauty Inspiration: Even though Josie is supposed to be a mess in oh-so-many different ways, we can't get over her bleached tips and runny, cried-out mascara.

And now, find out a few of Amber Tamblyn's favorite things! (The world's most perfect black boots? They're in there.)
