Far from trend-focused hubs like New York and Los Angeles, Foundation Footwear got its start in Dallas, Texas. The line's founders, Angel Acosta and Keith Tran, have clearly taken advantage of the space to think. Their influences range from modern Japanese icons like Visvim to classic basketball-sneaker shapes, but in all cases, the design keeps versatility and quality materials at the forefront. "Our motto is, 'For every move,'" says Tran. "Every piece in the collection can be worn for every occasion."
Take, for example, the Native silhouette. A cross between a moccasin and a court shoe, the style has been stripped of all frills (well, save the fringed collar). A combination of suede and leather accents sits atop a sporty rubber outsole, making it an ideal all-day option. The Native was rolled out alongside Foundation's other inaugural offerings (like the Rosa and the Pro High models) on its recently launched e-commerce site. We're looking forward to seeing how Foundation builds on its first collection—because what they've got here is definitely a solid base.
