If you search Kickstarter's current most funded project, top of the list by a landslide is the Everyday Backpack, Tote, and Sling by Peak Design. At the time of writing this, these sleek, dynamic bags have more than 22,000 backers pledging over $5.5 million. The initial goal? $500,000. That's more than 1000% of their goal. Bravo, backpack, bravo. The fundraising closes tonight at 8 p.m. E.D.T., so if you want in on a pre-order, you better hurry.
The Everyday Backpack is the brainchild of California-based company Peak Design. The original bag design was geared towards photographers' needs: multiple pockets for various lenses, extra padding for equipment safety, and organized, adjustable compartments for maximum efficiency. But when have more pockets and better design not been a good idea for, well, everyone? Cue the mass desire.
The four products being funded are the Everyday Backpack (which comes in two sizes), the Everyday Tote, the Everyday Sling, and the Everyday Pouch (available in three sizes)—all offered in either charcoal or ash color. Not only are they good-looking, but they're being praised as the most intelligently designed bag yet. So if your old, raggedy Jansport looks like it's seen better days, consider an Everyday.
