When shoe designer Pamela Ho conceived of the idea for her line of sandals last winter, she had a couple things on her mind—namely, California and sustainability. Ho grew up on the West Coast, where she was able to flit around in open-toed shoes year-round as a kid, so her first thought was that her brand should embody those sunny, vitamin D-filled memories.
Next came sustainability, which defines pretty much everything else about how Ho runs her business: all leather and materials are sourced from local makers, and each sandal is made to order and packaged by Ho herself. This cuts out the waste that comes with bulk production and allows Ho to introduce new styles as frequently as she wants. Judging by the charming designs in her first collection, on sale now, that's something we're going to want her to do very, very soon.
